The format for the episodes is pretty unique as well. There are some added challenges, like no power tools, make damascus steel, etc. Regarding each episode, they usually have to reproduce a historical weapon. On the second season, they just had a regular 4-man match instead, and Doug Marcaida performed the KEAL test. They even had them taking lunch breaks or going to sleep in the studio which was kinda funny to watch. They had like 20 or 30 hours to make their weapon and the contestants apparently never left the workshop. The Final round in Season 1 pitted the top 2 contestants in a versus match.

They have a Losers round with the 2nd and 3rd places of each group, and the top 2 move on to the Final to compete against the pre-qualified contestants. The 1st place on each group qualifies for the Finals. After their 3 episodes run, they add up their points. At the end of the episode, they are evaluated and get points for their performance (1° gets 100, 2° 50, 3° 25, 4° 0). They make only 1 weapon per episode, divided in 2 rounds. Basically, there are 8 smiths in total, split in 2 different groups. The format is very different from the US version, and they changed some things between Season 1 and Season 2. They fly them to a the studio in Mexico (or perhaps Argentina) and whoever wins the whole thing, i.e., Finals, gets a 10,000 dollars prize. To select the contestants they have a casting all over Latin America (Brazil included) and even Spain. and the 3rd Latin America season was one of the contestants in S7 of the US show (the Ikalaka episode). I believe there's a 3rd season in the works, and even a Brazilian version.

I don't know if this is accessible in the US, but you can check the full episodes on this YouTube channel. Not just 25 for the 1st phase + 14 odd minutes for the final round, like in the US version. Since every episode is about 1 weapon, it's 40 minutes of watching how that weapon is made. Also, one of the judges is a Blacksmithing instructor from Argentina who provides a ton of insights on the process.

I've watched both seasons of "Desafío Sobre Fuego Latinoamérica" and they're fairly interesting because you get to know the contestants a little better.
